“Such an exciting menu!” wrote one of our judges. Chef Kate Fay is a fusion expert, and her surprisingly long list is full of Asian-inspired delights and European classics with a twist. Every dish looks beautiful and tastes that way too, the service has a roguishly professional flavor (courtesy of the affable maitre d' Jeremy Turner) and the wines are smartly chosen. With a large fishpond in the inner courtyard, luxurious indoor/outdoor flow and bold use of gilt mirrors, rich colours and faux-fur drapes, Cibo is a fabulous expression of upmarket Auckland values: it's quality, darling, with a rich sense of humour.
